Works originally displayed at Saddleback Church's gallery space Grand Opening Exhibition entitled Three/In/One. These are selected pieces from a larger collection. Pieces this release are available for purchase in a few different sizes . Printing on metal creates an amazing effect that goes well beyond what can be seen on the computer screen and is an integral part of this series and it's symbolism. (I'll be posting more about that latter, after you've had some time to meditate on them.) Various aspects of the prints change as the lighting changes to constantly reveal something new much like the subject matter itself. Because these are metal there is no need to use glass when framing. Each piece is paired with an original Haiku written by Jacob Ryan Feld . Contact for more details and to arrange for purchase. Available framed, un framed or ready to hang as is.
A little about the series:
For the past several years I have been working on a series of images of crosses in everyday environments. This has given me a heightened awareness of the image of the cross. As a result I see them all over the place. If they are of interest visually or symbolically I capture them. Some of them remain as captured and others take a path of digital manipulation.
As a result of being more "in tuned" to the physical presence of the cross, one morning when making my tea (loose leaf of course, a Puerh to be specific, water at 208deg. F ) I noticed the stains left from the the spilt tea from the previous morning had left on my kitchen tile. The white tile, the brown grout and the reddish tone of the tea stains. The image of the stain on the cross struck me. I was not so struck by the actual image itself, but what I saw in the image and heard in the image before me. What was yet to be revealed. So off to work on the photos I went. This series of 6 images ( part of a larger body of work ) is the result of the evolution of the original photo as I manipulated it and meditated on the cross, life, creation, the beginning, the end and God, of course rabbit trails permeated this process. The actual creation process is one of revealing and or conceiling until the image visually communicated what my meditations where stirring up inside me. An active and ongoing meditation being sparked and fueled by what was coming off my monitor into my heart and head. Perhaps the Holy Spirit at work ?
The actual technical aspects of the chosen printing process is an integral part. I am using what is called a sublimation process, the printed image ( pigment, binders and solutions ) are fused with heat to the metal substrate ( carefully prepared and unblemished) . It is not until the heating at the proper temperature, the pressing under pressure and time is complete that the image reveals itself as the new creation. Each component is a completed work in itself, yet it is not until the two are fused together that something greater is revealed.
As the light is revealed in the image the metal shines through, glowing, when hidden from light the works take on a different appearance altogether. The same substance remains, just not revealed by the light to it's fullest capacity.
I leave you to experience in these pieces what you will or will be led to. Take a look, meditate on them and see where you go.

Origins - First Glance
This is the first photo, the place where it all began. I saw something beyond what was before my eyes. The rest of the series represents the manifestation of what I saw within.
